Gordon has been a professional wildlife photographer since 1970. He has travelled the world in search of subjects to photograph and his pictures regularly appear in wildlife magazines and on television.
Along with Dr Mike Hill he is the co-author of the Collins field guide to photographing birds in Britain and Europe. Together with Dr Malcolm Ogilvie he has co-authored two books, "Birds of Islay" and more recently "Wildlife of the Hebrides" due out at the end of the 2009. In addition he has made a one hour video on photographing birds for the RSPB.
In 1978 he gained his Fellowship of The Royal Photographic Society and served on the Licentiateship panel for 14 years. He was Chairman of the Royal Photographic Societies Nature Group from 1981 to 1983 and is currently President of the Berkshire Ornithological Club.
Gordon was a tour leader for Abercrombie and Kent taking groups to Florida, Kenya and Tanzania.
His favourite subjects have always been birds and he specializes in action and behaviour shots, however he was runner-up in the BBC wildlife photographer of the year competition with a picture of a stoat!
He has ten lectures from Falklands, North America, Africa, Europe and Scandinavia.
