Derek Turner Ettlinger

Derek was a pilot in the RAF and later worked for MI6. He was a member of the NPP from 1956 to 2001 and President from 1959 until the year 2000.

​

Initially he was known for his bird photography, but developed a strong interest in Orchids of which he was an expert and spent much time studying them in Cyprus. He published at least three books on orchids and was editor of Natural History Photography published by the Academic Press.

He lived in Dorking, Surrey.
